The Holy Ones of the Soul Runners

The Soul Runners were not always as they are now. Centuries ago, the Soul Runners were known as the Wasteland Nomads, a simple wandering people with no ties to the land. Then, they wandered upon a pond. The pond was fairly inconspicuous, although it was far more clean than a pond in the Arcadia Borderlands are usually. But, then a light began to shine from the pond, and the form of a great blue being rose from the pond. The nomads were dumbfounded, as they have rarely seen other races in their lives, let alone a being like this. They dubbed him “The Holy One”, and he became the new leader of their tribe. The Holy One had few memories, but he knew of the wonders of the pond. This pond was a spiritual place, a place where the Spirit World is strongly connected to the Material World. The Holy One taught the nomads to soak wood in the water of this pond and burn it, releasing their souls as spirit animals. The Holy One stayed and led the nomads for many years, until six beasts with tiger-like features approached the tribe, and demanded the Holy One come with them. The nomads prepared for battle, but the Holy One stopped them. The Holy One agreed to come with the beasts, but under the condition that they not harm the nomads. The beasts agreed, and the Holy One began to leave with him. The nomads asked why the Holy One was so willing to sacrifice himself, and the Holy One simply said, “Though I know I will die, I know your souls will always run with mine.”
